I missed my Feature Friday because I had a family commitment this week. After spending the last ten years doing everything her doctors asked, my Mother in Law a breast cancer survivor has been re-diagnosed. She is now fighting stage four breast cancer that has moved to her lymph nodes, one lung and her bones. As an oncology nurse she describes herself as being lit up brighter than the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. This week after her thirdchemo treatment her doctor, suddenly aware of the intensity of her shortness of breath, sent her to the er. My husband having been the one to draw the lucky card was her escort forall of this. During her two day hospital stay her hair began falling out in clumps. At this point she decided that she was going to hold her head high and dye her hair pink and purple.
Earlier that day my youngest talked me into dying my hair blonde. Blonde is not a color I would normally choose. As it turns out, with my natural hair color pink and purple highlights would not show. I have decided to add these highlights to support her in this battle. We are family. We don’t always agree about everything. We’ve had our major disagreements. I respect her opinions even if I don’t listen. I love that she is rocking the pink and purple do even if my husband secretly hates it. I love that she asked me to color it for her. She is the strongest person I wish I could be right now. Yes, I will be adding my highlights shortly. She, however, is the one who is fighting one of the toughest battles of her life and she’s doing it with flare.
